Brooklyn, NY - Dust off your dancing shoes and mark your calendars for May 16-19, 2024, as Swamp in the City: A Cajun & Creole Music Festival returns for its 7th year to Red Hook, Brooklyn. This four-day celebration of South Louisiana's vibrant heritage promises a feast for the senses, featuring world-class Cajun & Zydeco bands, dance lessons, jam sessions, workshops, and mouthwatering Cajun/Creole cuisine.

What to Expect:

The festival kicks off on Thursday, May 16, with a lively dance party at Jalopy Theatre & Tavern, featuring dance lessons and performances by Kelli Jones & Joel Savoy, Jesse Lége, and more. 

On Friday, May 17, experience the magic aboard the historic Waterfront Museum & Barge with performances by Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole and The Daiquiri Queens, along with dance lessons and surprise Cajun bands at Sunny's Bar.

Saturday, May 18, offers a full day of festivities, including a brunch at Hoek, a Cajun invasion pub crawl through Red Hook, and an evening of music and dancing at Strong Rope Brewery featuring Roddie Romero, Wayne Singleton, and The Original Pine Leaf Boys.

Finally, Sunday, May 19, concludes the festival with a family dance and Cajun jam at Strong Rope Brewery, featuring performances by Wilson Savoy & Friends, Wayne Singleton, the Daiquiri Queens, Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole, and more.

Ticket Information:

Ticket prices vary by event, with options for single-day passes, full festival passes, and special packages. Early bird discounts are available until March 1st, with additional discounts for children 12 and under. Volunteers can also score free admission by signing up for a three-hour shift.
