The Veterans Day Parade has been celebrated in New York City since 1929. Over 20,000 people participate in the Veteran's Day Parade each year. There are a variety of marchers, floats and marching bands in the Veterans Day Parade, with participants including active military officers, veterans groups, junior ROTC members, and the families of veterans. The Veteran's Day commemoration begins with a wreath laying ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Eternal Flame in Madison Square Park. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until 2pm. The parade route starts on Fifth Avenue at 23rd Street, and continues north along Fifth Avenue to its conclusion at 59th Street.
