An old-time saloon located at 44 Richmond Terrace, in the heart of historic St. George, proprietor Danny Mills decided that a steakhouse is what the island needed offering a view of Manhattan and terrace dining. In 1999 the Mills family razed the building and reopened in July of 2000 as Ruddy and Dean. The name originates from the maiden names of Mills' grandmothers, Grandma Ruddy and Grandma Dean. The tradition of cast iron pans to sear steaks and finish in high heat has been passed down. Today Ruddy and Dean serves Staten Islanders and tourists alike and is quickly making a name for itself as Staten Island's Premiere Steakhouse. A number of well-known people have enjoyed delectable meals at Ruddy & Dean such as football great Boomer Esiason, legendary boxing trainer and commentator Teddy Atlas, boxer Gerry Cooney as well as a slew of local TV news personalities, such as Art McFarland, Nina Pineda, Lou Young, and Tony Penza, and numerous local politicians.

Located on the beautiful St. George waterfront, Ruddy & Dean has a little something for everyone. Just across the street from the Staten Island Yankees' ballpark and the Staten Island Ferry, and only blocks from the St. George Theatre, Ruddy & Dean is a great place for sports fans, tourists, and theater-goers alike. Whether its the breathtaking view of Manhattan across New York Harbor or our award-winning steaks, you will quickly why Ruddy & Dean is a favorite of so many people.

We have a full-service kitchen in which we cut our own steaks from beef that is hand selected by owner Danny Mills. Our steaks are aged 7-10 days to maintain optimal beef flavor. Our chef, a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, has a knack for infusing other delectable entrées for the non-beef lover. Our party room, with a terrace overlooking Manhattan, has a 125 person capacity. We offer delicious and tasty catering options for all occasions.

For an intimate dinner for two, a business lunch, or a large party, Ruddy & Dean is the perfect place for everyone to enjoy fine food and fantastic views. Though on Staten Island, Ruddy & Dean is quickly making a name for itself among the big-name steakhouses in the city.
