Experience Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, the language of Tevye and his family! Oscar and Tony Award-winner Joel Grey directs this rich Yiddish translation by Shraga Friedman.
Set in 1905 Russia, the play tells the story of Tevye, an orthodox Jew and a father of five daughters. Tevye works hard to maintain Jewish traditions as a more secular world encroaches on his family's lives. His three older daughters each want to marry for that strange sentiment we call love, with each of their choice for a husband pulling them further away from the customs and traditions Tevye cherishes. All this takes place with the threat of anti-semitic pogroms.
